Title: Body Double (Rizzoli and Isles #04)
Author: Tess Gerritsen
Genre: Mystery, Suspense, Crime, ThrillerDate read: August 18-19, 2015
Dawn Rates: ★★★★★ (5/5)
Summary (cr: goodreads)
Dr Maura Isles stared at the corpse in the car, at the face illuminated by Rizzoli's flashlight beam.
It's me. That woman is me...
Maura Isles deals with death. As a pathologist in downtown Boston, she has seen more than her share of corpses. But never before has the body on the medical examiner's table been her own.
There can be no denying the evidence though. The dead woman is her mirror image right down to the most intimate physical details. Even more chilling is the discovery that they share the same birth date and blood type.
Then a DNA test confirms that Maura's mysterious double is indeed her twin sister, and suddenly an already bizarre murder investigation becomes a disturbing excursion into a past full of dark and deadly secrets...
My Review: (also in goodreads)
Rizzoli and Isles series: The Surgeon, The Apprentice, The Sinner
"Where we go depends upon where we know. And where we know depends on where we go..."
Rizzoli and Isles' adventure continues in this novel of dark secrets and unexpected twists. Rizzoli now married and pregnant is shaken by the idea that something happened to Isles. Isles on the other had is shaken by the idea of revisiting her roots which was in reality a dark and dangerous secret. I liked the way the story unfolded with all the macabre and the history surrounding Isles' real identity. Father Daniel Brophy and Dr. Maura Isles have that amazing chemistry and I would ship them if only he wasn't a priest, too bad...well I guess I'll ship Gabriel Dean and Jane Rizzoli instead. I liked the fact that Isles' sister's murder (*spoiler alert*) had nothing to do with the dark history but it paved its way to let her know the truth about her roots. Oh, and Dr. Joyce 'O Donnell is back. That psychotic doctor who has a dark fascination with murderers like Warren Hoyt.
Till the next read...
